This is the provision that’s not captured in this FAM anymore: “students should be able to access and request office hours in-person on campus and virtually.” Are we okay with that?
Senator Shari McMahan
40:01
@TC There was extensive discussion on this. Administration is not OK with this change.
Clare Weber, guest

Last time this was discussed the ASI rep. stated that students would prefer the option of seeing faculty in person.
Senator Shari McMahan

ALL lecturers are offered office space. They may choose not to use it but they have it.
Senator Thomas Corrigan

@Shari. Thanks. Do you want to speak to the other concern?
Senator Thomas Corrigan

Should a student requests office hours in a different modality than the one specified in the syllabus, the faulty teaching the course must accomendate

Motion: to add "Should a student request office hours in a different modality than the one specified in the syllabus, the faculty teaching the course should accommodate."
Senator Thomas Corrigan

Thanks you Kathie. Using the word “should” or “will make every reasonable effort” is not anti-student language.

FYI - Currently, the Catalog production process does not have an option for Emeritx. If this passes, we will need to submit a request to the company, Leap Frog, to make the change. This will take time.
Senator Thomas Corrigan
02:14:10
@Shari and all: Sorry for my frustration earlier regarding the should/must language around office hours. I’m sure EPRC will be able to bring a policy to Senate that meets all parties’ needs.
Senator Shari McMahan
