I do need to step out because I have class, but while looking at Policies if we could please keep our students in mind to help us as well. our students often go through many hardships that are not always talked about. 7. In-person courses in which students might attend class remotely via Next Generation Smart Classrooms on an emergency case-by-case basis or for SSD accommodations would not be considered distance education courses.

Academic content that is not already copyrighted and wholly developed by an individual faculty remains the intellectual property of that individual, in accordance with FAM 500.8. It can be used by other instructors for their classes only after written consent has been obtained from the developer, and proper attribution protocols followed.

We have to follow WSCUC and CO-IPEDS

This is WSCUC definion of DE:

Distance education:(1) Education that uses one or more of the technologies listed in paragraphs (2)(i) through (iv) of this definition to deliver instruction to students who are separated from the instructor or instructors and to support regular and substantive interaction between the students and the instructor or instructors, either synchronously or asynchronously.(2) The technologies that may be used to offer distance education include - (i) The internet;(ii) One-way and two-way transmissions through open broadcast, closed circuit, cable, microwave, broadband lines, fiber optics, satellite, or wireless communications devices;(iii) Audio conference; or(iv) Other media used in a course in conjunction with any of the technologies listed in paragraphs (2)(i) through (iii) of this definition.

“Faculty shall have the right to exclude student evaluations from their WPAF for any course that is offered via distance education for the first time.”

The old definition adopted is not inline with any process that the university must adhere to. The WSCUC and CO-IPEDS definitions will now have to be an administrative policy.

12. [Replace last sentence] Changing the instruction mode for more than one week requires consultation with the department chair/school director and dean. Changing the instruction mode for one week or less requires no consultation but faculty should notify their department chair/school director of the change.

Striking just makes less transparent what we are required to do

It states “the institution" and the policy applies to the university as a whole not just the faculty
